Buffalo Museum of Science negative collection, ca. 1909- [ongoing]. 1909-

The negative collection consists of images relating to the Buffalo Museum of Science and its activities, exhibits (long term, temporary and traveling) and curatorial department collections in anthropology, botany, geology and zoology. The anthropological negatives include significant numbers of images on Africa, Asia, Oceania, a worldwide money collection and a collection of European Lace. Other areas are represented in lesser proportion and include the Americas (including Mississipian pottery), South East Asia, Japan, Tibet, and Europe. The collection also contains images relating to the educational classes and programs of the adult and junior education departments that later combined to become the current Education Department, the Allegany School in the Forest/ Allegany School of Natural History, Allegany State Park from opening day 1921 to the 1940's and Tifft Nature Preserve, a satellite site of the Buffalo Museum of Science.
